Annual Dairy Breakfast heads to Plum City

PLUM CITY — The Pierce County Dairy Breakfast is returning for another year of food, fun and dairy education when it heads to LoRan Rolling Acres in Plum City on June 15.

LoRan Rolling Acres is run by Lori and Randy Larson and Randy is a third generation farmer. Randy’s grandfather originally purchased the farm back in 1934 before his parents purchased it in 1960. Randy purchased the farm in 1999 before marrying Lori in 2002. Lori quit her job in 2003 to work full-time on the farm in 2003.

Up until 1999 the farm was home to dairy cows, but is now home to around 200 heifers, which are young female cows that have not yet given birth.

The focus of the breakfast is to educate the community on dairy farming in the state of Wisconsin as well as locally in Pierce County. In addition, the breakfast brings farmers and non-farmers together to share conversations.

“Gives an experience to come out to a farm,” Lori said. “A lot of people can’t, they don’t know anybody.”

This is not the first time LoRan Rolling Acres has hosted the breakfast, as the two hosted the event back in 2013.

“Just always enjoyed going to them, and our way of also giving back,” Randy said.

The breakfast offers pancakes, sausage, Ellsworth cheese curds, Culver’s custard, Kwik Trip milk, water and coffee.

Randy said they are excited to be able to showcase the farm that has been in the family for nearly a century. They knew going in that there would be some projects to get done before the big day, but Lori viewed it as a reason to take action on some of the projects that have been in the works for a while.

Overall, the two want to share their farm with the community and show off the place that has meant so much to the Larson family.

“With me being third generation, very proud of our farm and hope people can see how well we can take care of things,” Randy said.

The family encouraged anyone interested in learning about what goes into farming to attend the breakfast.

The breakfast will take place from 7:30-11 a.m. June 15 at W1285 County Road U, Plum City. For more information on dairy farming in the county, visit the Pierce County Dairy Promotion website.
