ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to Ellsworth Police Department July 11-18.

Monday, July 11 Police escorted a man off the property at 9:58 a.m. at 103 S. Pond St. The man’s belongings from the garage were left with his brother.

Tara Olson, 46, Ellsworth, was arrested for felony burglary – building or dwelling and felony theft at 10:29 a.m. at 325 W. Main St.

At 12:48 p.m., police were called into Village Hall (130 N. Chestnut St.) for a man who was yelling and causing a disruption. Jeffrey Story, 28, Burnsville, Minn., was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Tuesday, July 12 Police responded to a vehicle vs. cow crash at 4:54 a.m. near High Point Drive and South Maple Street. A vehicle driven by John Halverson, 47, Ellsworth, struck a cow in the road.

A caller reported a horse in the roadway at 6:31 p.m. near North Maple Street and Midway Avenue. Police couldn’t find the horse.

Police responded to a minor two-vehicle crash at 6:49 p.m. in the 400 block of East Wall Street between Robert Ovsak, 68, Beldenville, and Jane White, 54, Spring Valley. A Chevy S10’s parking brake gave out and rolled into an Equinox, causing damage to the front driver’s side door.

Officers were called at 8:38 p.m. to the Pierce County Fairgrounds to remove an unwanted person who had been staying there. Wednesday, July 13 Officers responded at 2:20 p.m. to a minor two-vehicle crash at McDonald’s (159 W. Main St.) between Richard Thorson, 66, Ellsworth, and Jo Ann Raechke, 63, Ellsworth. Thorson, who was behind Raechke, accidentally took his foot off the brake and rolled into her vehicle, causing minor damage to her bumper.

Police performed a welfare check at 4:05 p.m. at 292 E. Summit Ave. The person in question hadn’t shown up to work or called. Records indicated the person had been arrested on a warrant the night before.

At 5:45 p.m., police stood by and kept the peace while a woman retrieved belongings at 404 High Point Drive. Thursday, July 14 Officers stood by for a property exchange at 6:41 p.m. at 103 S. Pond St.

Faith Mitchell, 19, Ellsworth, and Mialle Gardas, 17, Ellsworth, were arrested for possess drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop for a defective driver’s side headlight at 10:05 p.m. at Wall and Main streets. Friday, July 15 Officers assisted with a property exchange at 7:43 a.m. at 112 Evergreen Estates St.

Police performed a welfare check on a woman at 8:07 p.m. at Nilssen’s (157 E. Main St.) The woman said she was dizzy due to recovering from Covid, but denied EMS. At 9:22 p.m., a resident reported a local man known to police looking in people’s homes and cars in the 700 block of West Crest Lane while pretending to be on his phone. The suspect was riding a bike. When police made contact, he said he was just riding his bike. He was warned that police would keep making contact with him if people keep calling him in for suspicious activity.

Saturday, July 16 A United States Postal Service driver and an Amazon driver got into an argument at 2:19 a.m. about who could park where at the Post Office (270 N. Maple St.) The USPS worker dropped off a load and left without incident.

A clerk did not feel safe opening Cenex (610 E. Main St.) at 5:07 a.m. with a man known to police outside the business. Police remained on site while she opened.

Miriam Guaman, 29, Ellsworth, was cited for operate without valid license after a traffic stop for running a stop sign at 10:47 a.m. at Maple Street and Crosstown Road.

Officers performed a welfare check at 12:59 p.m. at 229 W. Main St. The resident denied EMS or any help.

Officers assisted EMS in performing life-saving measures on a 77-year-old man who couldn’t breathe at 6:17 p.m. at 411 W. Cairns St.

Police received a noise complaint at 10:56 p.m. at 237 N. Grant St. The music was off when police arrived.
