PRESCOTT— Sierra Abbott is the new owner of Eye Candi, a motorcycle and boating clothing and accessories store in downtown Prescott.  

"I was born and raised in Prescott," Abbott said.

Abbott, a 2019 graduate of Prescott High School, went to 3M Academy right after high school where she started her own company, Over The Top Wraps, which wrapped cars and boat names.

"I still own that, but I just don't do as much anymore," Abbott said.

It wasn't long after until Amber Chase, the previous owner of Eye Candi, reached out to Abbott about the business opportunity.

"I stumbled upon this store offer, and I wasn't even interested at first but then I was like, 'I will try it,'" Abbott said. "Amber Chase owned this shop before, and we used to call each other aunt and niece. We always say we adopted each other, but we are not actually related."

Abbott used to work at Eye Candi with Chase as a kid.

"We did Flood Runs here or pop-ups, and I would go with," she said.

Chase owned Eye Candi for about 25 years, Abbott said, and was in search of something else.

"Everyone already knows me because of Amber," Abbott said, noting that made the adjustment of switching management easy. Abbott took ownership of the building Jan. 1.

"We completely renovated everything which took about 3 months," Abbott said.

Eye Candi used to sell just motorcycle apparel, but now Abbott has added more.

"We have motorcycle and boating apparel, and so many accessories — like sunglasses, wine labels, patches, sandals, jewelry," she said.

Everything in the store is continuously rotating, according to Abbott.

"Every time you come in there is going to be something new, because once we are out of a product, something new is replacing it. So I always tell people, if you like a product, you should buy it because it might not be here next time you come in."

Abbott is coming out with her own brand, Sinner and Saint, which will be available at Eye Candi.

"We are not selling things that say 'Eye Candi' on apparel, it is just the name of the store," Abbott said. "We are keeping the name but changing the sign out front."

Abbott will wrap the new sign that will be located in front of her store. The name “Eye Candi” is an advertisement for the store.

"When you come into the store, everything is 'eye candi,'" Abbott said. "I want the store to represent 'eye candi' for Prescott."

Abbott said another new brand that will be added to the store is Route 35, because the store is located on the Great River Road.

"If people are wanting a souvenir about Prescott, we definitely have that," Abbott said. "This summer we are going to have swimsuits and more of a boating line of clothing."

Abbott said the store is something you need to visit multiple times to view everything because there is so much to see. She said the store location is key.

"Being right next to the No-Name bar, which constantly has boater and bike traffic, will allow this store to stay busy,” she said.

Abbott described the public response to her opening as "really great."

"People are excited to see we have set hours and a diversity of merchandise,” she said.

Abbott has always dreamed of starting up her own clothing line.

"I feel like I am not really working when I am here, it's more so fun."

Abbott has advice to give other young business owners, or ones looking to start somewhere.

"Love what you sell, be passionate about it because it does make a difference, people will notice and see it,” she said.
