To the editor,
“In a democracy, no one is above the law.” Have you seen these bumper stickers around the area? Trump is not above the law - he is under indictment for trying to steal votes in 2020, and he’s so petrified of prison he’s moving fast to dump democracy.
In Minnesota on May 17, he said he won the state in 2020. He didn’t. He lost by more than 200,000 votes. He’s so terrified of losing the race again and being held accountable for his crimes, he’s denying reality and pushing the Big Lie in 2024.
More than 100 court decisions - including by Trump appointees - show the 2020 election results were fair - not fraud.
But Trump has already told everyone that he will be a dictator and his followers are helping him dictate the Big Lie through a strategy to spread the lie, especially on social media.
That’s not democracy. That’s supporting a dictatorship and it will rip America apart. That’s what Trump is trying to do.
“Is democracy still America’s sacred cause?” President Biden asked all of us recently.
The answer has to be YES - and the answer has to come from all of us. Me. You. All of us.
We all have to commit to accepting election results - from the presidency on down. Tell ALL candidates you demand it.
We all have to commit to a peaceful transfer of power, from the presidency on down. Tell ALL candidates you demand it.
No Big Lie - reject it - use your voice, talk about it, write about it.
No Big Lie - stand up for democracy, America’s sacred cause.
