Prescott School District welcomed the following new staff members for the 2023-24. Prescott Kiwanis treated them to a special luncheon on Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Kaitlyn Bentz

Position: Second grade teacher

Hometown: Roseville, Minn.

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Going on walks/hikes, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Family: I grew up with my mom, dad and brother. I still see them very often!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am so excited for the students to come back from the summer. I’m looking forward to helping the students in my class learn and grow throughout the year!

Zach Bisson

Position: PHS special education teacher

Education: UW-River Falls with bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and economics; special education licensure through Educate Wisconsin

Hobbies/interests: Cooking, playing games and spending time with my dog Minnie, a Black Lab/Greyhound mix.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Enjoy the day-to-day interactions with students and working alongside them in order to achieve their goals.

Anastasiia Bundy

Position: Special education teacher (grades 4-5)

Hometown: Eau Galle

Education: Master of Science in Education, Reading Specialist, Fort Hays State University; Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Kirovograd State Pedagogical University, Ukraine

Hobbies/interests: My biggest drive is to learn and try new things. I found that travelling allows me to experience both. It offers opportunities to immerse myself in new cultures, languages, traditions, and histories. Also, every new place I visit provides a chance to expand my knowledge. I find that each journey becomes a dynamic learning experience.

Family: My husband Joseph and I will be celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary in a month. I also was lucky to bring my parents from Ukraine (in June 2022 and January 2023); they are safe and live in Eau Claire. Joe has most of his family (parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles) in the Eau Galle area. We’ve been blessed to have our family close.

What are you looking forward to most this year? I got an impression that Prescott School District is a very progressive and data-oriented institution. I am looking forward to being able to learn from and also contributing to your success. Also, I would like to teach abroad next summer, so I am excited to see what the future holds for me.

Lauren Burks

Position: Occupational therapist

Education: Graduate of St. Catherine’s University where she obtained her master’s degree. This is her second year with Prescott SD.

Family: Lauren and husband Jon, kids Lily, Hank and Graham and their two dogs live on a hobby farm.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with family, traveling, hiking and biking.

What are you looking forward to most this year? I love helping students realize their full potential in sensory, fine, visual and gross motor skills and helping them adapt to be successful in school.

Brittany Campbell

Position: School psychologist at Malone Elementary and Intermediate schools

Education: I attended the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities at the start of my undergraduate career, but transferred and completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at UW-Whitewater. I graduated this past summer with my Master of Science in Education from UW-Stout. I am currently attending Stout to complete my Education Specialist degree in School Psychology as well. I have my first year School Psychology license.

Experience: I was a special education paraprofessional at Kennedy Middle School in Germantown. I also completed my first school psychology practicum experience at Saint Croix Falls working with students K-12. At the end of last year, I completed my second school psychology practicum experience at Durand Middle/High School.

Hobbies/interests: I love spending time outdoors with my husband, Alex, and my dog, Hylia. We enjoy hiking, working out, camping, and trying new things. I also enjoy playing board games with my family and friends, reading, and trying new creative hobbies.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’ looking forward to joining such a collaborative team dedicated to helping out students learn, grow and succeed.

Allison Cornish

Position: Middle school band director

Education: Allison attended UW-Eau Claire and earned a Bachelor’s of Music Education and adaptive special ed music certification. She is in the process of obtaining her master’s degree from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time outdoors, traveling, and adventuring with husband Tim, golden retriever Maple, and family and friends.

What are you most looking forward to this year? It is so rewarding to watch a student learn to grow as an individual and community member as they participate in band class.

Chris Dewuske

Position: Business education teacher

Education: B.A. in art education from Bethel University and an M.A. in educational technology from Concordia University. He also studied in Berlin. This is my ninth year as an educator.

Hobbies/interests: Working in my garden and orchard, researching family history, photography, painting, writing and spending time with my wife Aria, two dogs and five cats!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I work hard to try to make what we learn in the classroom relevant to students’ futures through project-based learning.

Maiya Fuller

Position: Second grade teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science in elementary education at UW-River Falls. She taught at an early childhood center for three years.

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with friends, shopping, being outside and going to the movies.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I value building positive relationships with students. Seeing them having an “ah-ha” moment when understanding a new concept is incredibly rewarding.

Emily Hoven

Position: Fourth grade teacher

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Spending time with family and friends, exploring outdoors, baking and watching hockey!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I love watching students put the pieces together and understand the connection of something.

Ally Langer

Position: PHS English teacher

Hometown: Otsego, Minn.

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Watching movies, being outside, cooking, baking and spending time with my family.

Family: I live in River Falls with my cat Moira. On the weekends, you’ll often find me in northern Minnesota with my parents, or in the Twin Cities babysitting my 2-month-old nephew.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to making new connections with students and getting involved in the Prescott community. Go Cardinals!

Cameron Meyers

Position: PHS science teacher

Education: Attained teaching licensure at UW-Eau Claire; he will instruct Intro to Physics, Intro to Chemistry and Environmental Science

Family: Wife Emma

Hobbies/interests: Weightlifting, Dungeons & Dragons, sci-fi and video gaming

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m looking forward to meeting my students, new colleagues and getting to know the Prescott community itself.

Alexis Muller

Position: Second grade teacher

Education/experience: I attended UW-River Falls and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2018. I am licensed in Elementary Education 1-6. Prior to being hired with Prescott, I worked at Ellsworth Community School District for three years. At the elementary school, I worked with students in special education and long-term substitute taught second grade.

Interests/hobbies: I enjoy being with my family and friends, being outdoors and exploring nature with my Black Lab Cinder, and watching movies of all kinds.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I enjoy education because it has endless possibilities to continue to grow and flourish as an individual. I enjoy being a teacher because of the relationships I can build with my students while making an influence in their lives. I am looking forward to getting to know the community of Prescott as I reside in Red Wing, Minn.

Angela Schmidt

Position: Speech & language pathologist

Education: Minnesota State University-Mankato for her undergraduate studies and graduate degree in speech language pathology. She will work with PK-1 students and is in her fourth year of teaching.

Family: Married to husband Brandon in June

Hobbies/interests: Spending time outdoors, traveling, working out at the crossfit gym and playing with her Pomeranian, Leonardo.

What are you most looking forward to this year? My favorite part of working in education is watching students learn about how to communicate and advocate for themselves.

Grace Wise

Position: Second grade teacher

Hometown: Hastings, Minn.

Education: UW-River Falls

Hobbies/interests: Reading, running outside, spending time with friends and family, and shopping!

Family: My mom’s name is Mary, my dad’s name is Mike, and I have one brother whose name is Griffin. I also have one puppy whose name is Libby!

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am looking forward to having my own classroom and my own students. I can’t wait to meet my students and learn all about them. I am also looking forward to working at Malone. All the staff are so welcoming!
