NXT Chapter Studio helps capture the small moments

RIVER FALLS — Capturing the small moments is a motto a lot of people live by, but photographer Tia Giebel took it to the next level, providing these opportunities for others through the opening of a studio.

Giebel not only runs Rose and Oak Photography, but recently opened NXT Chapter Studio in River Falls. The studio provides a set for people to get professional photos for their family, business, senior photos, baby photos or any other reason.

“Every chapter in life deserves to be documented no matter how big or small,” Giebel said. “Sometimes it’s those little everyday moments that you look back on and that mean the most.”

Giebel’s inspiration comes from family values, and the personal importance of every small moment.

“I lost my mom to cancer in 2013 and just really realized what photos mean after somebody passes,” Giebel said.

The love of photography intensified after having kids of her own. Giebel wanted to capture each moment of their lives.

After losing her father in 2021, Giebel really stepped into the passion that had been building up.

“I felt like that’s why those events happened in my life,” Giebel said. “It’s always been a seed planted in my heart.”

Giebel decided to open the studio because she felt there was a lack of studios in the area and wanted to provide an opportunity for other photographers.

“I just wanted to create a space to support other creatives,” Giebel said. “And I love that it’s in my own community. My husband and I both grew up in River Falls, we raised our family in River Falls. It meant a lot for me to have it in River Falls.”

Giebel also creates handmade children’s clothing, which has played a role in the future goals of the studio. Giebel wants to create monthly events for small business owners to have pop-up events and vendor markets. While one of these events has taken place already, the goal is to maintain consistency in hosting them.

To the new photographers of the world, Giebel advised them to just keep trying things in order to get more comfortable.

“Just keep taking pictures, just keep learning your settings, just keep trying,” Giebel said.

The studio is located at 102 N. Main St. in River Falls.
