Spring Valley’s spotless record remains, picking up a 28-0 win over Cadott Friday, Sept. 26 to move to 6-0. Spring Valley is tied for the conference lead with Boyceville at 4-0, with the teams set to battle Oct. 11. They will take on local rival Elmwood/Plum City this week, who fell to 1-5 after a 21-0 loss to Turtle Lake.

Football season has been kind to both the Cardinal squads in Pierce County, with Prescott also moving to 6-0 after a 39-20 win over St. Croix Central. Prescott is locked up at 4-0 in conference alongside Baldwin-Woodville, who they match up with Oct. 11.

Ellsworth fell behind 18-7 to Somerset at the half, but the Panthers scratched and clawed to fight back with a 28-26 win. Somerset caused problems for both Ellsworth and Prescott this year, but they each survived. Ellsworth is 4-2 on the year with a 3-1 conference record.

Volleyball

A 6-0 week for River Falls featured a win over conference foe New Richmond 3-0 Sept. 26. The Wildcats moved to 23-5 and are eyeing their Oct. 3 matchup with 21-0 Hudson.

Prescott had a 2-0 week, moving the Cardinals to 1-1 in conference play. The week included a 3-0 win over Hastings and a 3-2 win over Baldwin-Woodville.

The Dunn-St. Croix Conference squads joined the rest of the county having good weeks in volleyball, with Spring Valley beating Mondovi 3-0 to move to 2-0 in conference and EPC beating Boyceville 3-0 to move to 1-1 in conference.

River Falls landed in fifth at a Big Rivers Conference Meet on Sept. 26. The team now heads to Hudson Oct. 2 for the WIAA Regional.

The girls’ tennis regular season is nearing an end, and the conference meets are rapidly approaching.
