The following incidents were reported to Pierce County Sheriff’s Office July 18-25.

Monday, July 18

Deputies responded at 12:19 a.m. to the GasLite (W8945 US Highway 10, Ellsworth), where a man allegedly assaulted patrons and staff. A 51-year-old Ellsworth man was arrested for strangulation and suffocation and disorderly conduct at his home.

Deputies checked on a man at 3:34 a.m. sleeping in his vehicle at W5405 Highway 29, Spring Valley. He said he was taking a nap before going fishing.

Officers found a vehicle in the ditch at 5:30 a.m. at 850th Street and Highway 29. The unoccupied vehicle didn’t appear to have any damage. A voicemail was left for the registered owner.

Police received a concerned complaint about a horse at 1:37 p.m. at N4854 County Road O, Ellsworth. The horse appeared healthy and had food and water.

At 5:10 p.m., a resident at W11149 County Road M, River Falls, said his dog was locked in the car. He broke out a window before law enforcement arrived.

A complainant reported at 7:52 p.m. that a political sign had been taken from his property at N1639 County Road C, Hager City. He wanted the incident documented.

Deputies responded to an ER in Red Wing, Minn., at 8:04 p.m. to investigate a dog bite that had occurred at W6911 210th Ave., Bay City. Police notified Public Health and provided the owner with quarantine paperwork.

Officers responded at 9:49 p.m. to W3261 County Road AA, Maiden Rock, for a suspicious man trespassing. The man was arrested for possession of THC – second, possess drug paraphernalia, resisting or obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.

Tuesday, July 19

Deputies assisted River Falls police with an uncooperative person at 2:01 a.m. at 617 S. Main St. He was eventually arrested for OWI and transported to Pierce County Jail.

A caller reported a suspicious man in the roadway at 3:19 a.m. at County Road Y and Highway 29, River Falls. The man said his vehicle had broken down and he was waiting for AAA. The vehicle had broken down over the line in St. Croix County.

Police received a suspicious vehicle complaint at 3:40 a.m. near Highway 35 and 170th Avenue, Hager City. A male passenger said the female driver had gotten angry and another man had picked her up. She took the keys with her. He was waiting for a ride. Police found no one else in the vicinity.

At 6:44 a.m., PCSO maintenance staff located a person sleeping in the sheriff’s office after they’d been released from jail. They were asked to move to the front of the building, where their ride picked them up.

At 1:39 p.m., a complainant reported finding a gun lying in the roadway the day before near 742nd Avenue and County Road F, River Falls. Police met with him to collect the gun and photos.

Police responded at 3:26 p.m. to a threats complaint at 316 S. Scott St., Elmwood. During a phone call, a man had threatened physical violence. Woodville police arrested a man in their village for domestic disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a telephone.

Officers removed a tree from the roadway at 4:12 p.m. near County Road S and 150th Street, Plum City.

At 7:38 p.m., an anonymous complainant reported seeing a 12-year-old driving near a 290th Street address, Spring Valley, eight hours prior. Police told the complainant to call when the act was occurring.

Police received a suspicious activity complaint at 11:18 p.m. near County Road CC and Highway 29 in Spring Valley. SV police handled the call.

Wednesday, July 20

Police noticed a suspicious vehicle had been parked in the same location for four days near 570th Street and Highway 35 in Bay City. At 1:19 a.m., an officer found four people trespassing on private property. They were all cited for the infraction, and one was also cited for possession of THC and possess drug paraphernalia.

Officers received a suspicious activity complaint at 1:53 a.m. at N4359 610th St., Ellsworth. A woman saw a man in the back yard and was concerned. No one was located.

At 9:19 a.m., a resident at W12175 742nd Ave., River Falls, reported fraud. He had mailed a check to a subcontractor, but somehow it was stolen, altered and cashed.

Thursday, July 21

Deputies assisted Ellsworth police with a disorderly person at 11:55 a.m. at the courthouse (414 W. Main St.)

Police responded to a man lying in the roadway at 5:18 p.m. near 610th Avenue and Highway 65, Beldenville. EMS transported the man, who was having trouble breathing, to the hospital.

Police received a driving complaint at 10:22 p.m. near N3941 Highway 35, Prescott. They located the vehicle, in which a man was sleeping. He said he’d pulled over because he was tired.

A complainant called police at 10:29 p.m. to report people laying in the ditch near County Road E and Highway 29, River Falls. The suspects said they had parked to watch an outdoor movie and were leaving.

Officers performed a security check at 11:50 p.m. of a recent eviction site, W3581 160th Ave., Maiden Rock. Everything was secure.

Friday, July 22

At 12:03 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle near W6282 Highway 35, Bay City, for operating without plates and a defective license plate lamp. A woman was arrested for a Dunn County failure to appear warrant, operate without valid license, misdemeanor bail jumping and felony bail jumping.

A caller complained at 6:36 a.m. about a semi unloading items near Sabin Avenue and Akers Street in Spring Valley. The driver was told to unload things as quickly as possible in order to get the semi out of the road.

The Highway Department removed a tree at 9:22 a.m. from the road at County Road AA and Highway 35, Maiden Rock.

Officers responded at 11:34 a.m. to S238 Church Ave., Spring Valley, for a possible temporary restraining order violation.

At 5:37 p.m., police responded to W7830 Highway 35, Hager City, for a garbage burning complaint. When police arrived, nothing was being burned. Both parties were spoken to and a positive resolution reached.

Deputies were called at 8:29 p.m. to investigate a suspicious activity complaint at W5184 250th Ave., Bay City. A woman found her side door open and was worried someone was in the house. Nothing had been disturbed or taken.

Officers investigated a fireworks complaint at 10:13 p.m. at W7528 Highway 65, Beldenville. The suspects were warned and advised to have a permit when lighting off fireworks.

An anonymous caller reported suspicious activity at 10:25 p.m. near Highway 10 and 410th Avenue, Ellsworth. No suspicious vehicles were located.

A man was arrested for OWI-first after a traffic stop at 11:11 p.m. for operating without headlights near Division and Main streets. He appeared to be under the influence of an illegal narcotic drug.

Saturday, July 23

Police checked on three vehicles parked at 1:15 a.m. in the wayside near County Road AA and Highway 35, Maiden Rock. Two vehicles had open windows covered with towels. One woman told police she was sleeping in her vehicle overnight.

A driver was arrested for OWI-first after police responded at 2:36 a.m. to N1090 825th St., Hager City, for a driving complaint of a vehicle all over the road.

Officers responded at 4:33 p.m. to a one-vehicle crash with injury at Highway 29 and 690th Avenue, River Falls. The driver was arrested for OWI-first. A witness was also arrested for OWIfirst.

Deputies responded to a domestic called in by a third party at 10:21 p.m. at 501 Main St., Plum City. The suspect fled on foot but police located him later and arrested him for substantial battery – intend bodily harm, strangulation and suffocation, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to dwelling and a probation hold.

Sunday, July 24

A downed tree was noted across the road at 2:53 a.m. near County Road A and Highway 35, Maiden Rock. The highway department was notified to remove it.

At 9:39 a.m., a caller reported that a tree had fallen and hit his vehicle near County Road U and 145th Avenue, Plum City. The tree had to be removed from the roadway.

Officers responded to a motorcycle vs. deer crash at 10:51 a.m. near County Road O and 430th Avenue, Hager City. EMS transported a man to Mayo Hospital in Red Wing, Minn.

At 3:39 p.m., a caller reported juveniles sitting on the road at 385th Street and Highway 35 in Maiden Rock. The kids were told to stay off the road.

Police found a crashed motorcycle in the ditch at 3:55 p.m. near County Road A and Highway 10, Maiden Rock. Wisconsin State Patrol completed a crash report.

A rural Ellsworth man called at 4:58 p.m. to make a report that his brother his still spellbinding him. He wanted it documented.

A complainant sent police at 5:23 p.m. to N6433 Highway 72, Elmwood, where a man who was not allowed to have firearms allegedly had them in his possession. Police made contact with the man and his ex-wife; both said the ex-wife had possession of the firearms. The complaint was forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

Monday, July 25 Deputies assisted Hudson police at 12:36 a.m. at 1238 N. Main St., River Falls. One man was arrested on a warrant and transported to Pierce County Jail.

At 6:51 a.m., a caller at 118 E. Winter Ave., Elmwood, reported finding a cut brake line. The caller provided a suspect’s name but no evidence.
