Plum City School District welcomed these eight new staff members for the 2023-24 school year.

Kim Bechel

Position: Childcare Coordinator

Hometown: I have called Plum City my hometown my whole life.

Education: I graduated in 2005 from CVTC with my one-year degree in Child Care Servies and I have been teaching in childcare for 18 years.

Family: I live in Plum City with my husband Matt and our two children, Darren and Cassy.

Hobbies/interests: We like spending time outside, having campfires in our backyard. In my spare time I like reading, listening to music and the occasional Sudoku puzzle.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am most excited to start this new program and working with everyone at the school.

Matina Campetti

Position: Instrumental music teacher

Hometown: Gordon

Education: Instrumental music education

Hobbies/interests: I love being outside, crafting, baking, cooking and watching TV/movies with my cat Speedy.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to work with and be involved in the small community. I grew up in a very rural school and Plum City reminds me of home. I can’t wait to meet everyone and be able to make music with my students.

Carissa Christiansen

Position: MS/HS administrative assistant

Hometown: My husband and I both grew up in Ellsworth but moved down to Plum City almost six years ago when our family started expanding.

Education: I earned my bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance at UW-River Falls, then worked in the finance industry for the last seven years.

Family: We have one daughter and two sons, along with our dog Kira.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m so excited to be working here in Plum City when I can become part of the community that my family and I live in, with hopes to make a difference and connect with everyone else that calls Plum City home.

Jackson Dalluhn

Position: Third grade teacher

Hometown: Hudson

Education: I graduated from UW-River Falls with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in early childhood education.

Family: My wife is the Spanish teacher at Elmwood schools.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to be working in a town where class sizes benefit the amount of individualized instruction that can be done and the support that will be given to me as a first-year teacher!

Becky Fortney

Position: Elementary principal

Hometown: I grew up in Minnesota and have lived my adult life in River Falls. I know live just outside of Plum City.

Education: I graduated in 2005 from UW-River Falls with my degree in elementary education and have taught grades 1-3 over the last 15 years. I graduated with my master’s in leadership from UW-Superior in 2022.

Family: My significant other Kyle and I have seven children, 10 years old through college aged. We have a 3-year-old English lab, a 10-week-old kitten and a eight chickens.

Hobbies/interests: I love spending time with my family outside, having bonfires, and bowling. One of my favorite things to do is relax and read a great book!

What are you most looking forward to this year? As the elementary principal, I am excited to work alongside the amazing staff in Plum City, helping our students grow and learn each and every day.

Liz Hauser

Position: Math teacher

Hometown: I grew up in Whitehall, Wis.

Education: I went to college at UW-Eau Claire right after I graduated from high school and got an elementary education degree with a math teaching minor (2005). While teaching in Madison, I earned a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in mathematics education (2014).

Family: I live with my partner Kari and our son Greer on Kari’s family farm right outside of Plum City.

Hobbies/interests: I love being outside, going for walks, working in the garden and playing around the yard with Greer and our two dogs, Edie and Owen. I also like to cook, bake, read and watch TV. 

What are you most looking forward to this year? I’m excited to work with the students, families and community members of Plum City. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the students and their families, exploring math with the students and seeing students make connections and uncover new learning!

Vonda Johnson

Position: K-12 ELL teacher

Hometown: I grew up in Knapp (I have lived in many places!)

Education: NYIT undergrad, Capella University master’s degree in post-secondary education and English language learning. Post master’s credits at Concordia University for alternative education.

Family: I live with my husband, our dog and two cats!

Hobbies/interests: We like to go camping and four-wheeling and travel when we can. I like to kayak, ride my moped, read, learn, crochet, sew, craft and visit friends.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I am excited to teach at Plum City because it is a small school district in a beautiful area of Wisconsin. I substitute taught in Plum City years ago and really liked the atmosphere of the district. I have been teaching virtually for the past four years so I am excited to teach and be able to meet student needs, face to face!

Ali Lokker

Position: Kindergarten teacher

Hometown: I am originally from Baldwin.

Education: I attended UW-River Falls where I majored in elementary education and minored in early childhood. This will be my first year teaching as I just graduated in December of last year!

Family: I have three siblings and a Brittany Spaniel named Gunner.

Hobbies/interests: I enjoy reading, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

What are you most looking forward to this year? I look forward to being a part of the community and school district of Plum City!
