Prescott 5th grader wins ag essay contest

PRESCOTT – Kendall Anderson, daughter of Justen and Corri Anderson, is a Pierce County winner for the Wisconsin Ag in the Classroom Essay Contest.

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation - Ag in the Classroom Essay Contest is an opportunity for fourth and fifth grade students to explore Wisconsin history, geography, and economics through the lens of Wisconsin agriculture. An annual essay prompt challenges students to research and write an informative essay. The contest supports Wisconsin academic standards including English Language Arts and Social Studies.

This year, students wrote about fruit grown in Wisconsin with Prescott fifth grade students writing about strawberries. Kendall is in Alexis Magnino’s class at Prescott Intermediate School and fifth grade students composed their essays in Karey Sizemore's STEM class.

A special thanks to Nilssen's Market in Ellsworth for providing cheese sticks for the entire class and Kevin Ballman from the Pierce County Farm Bureau.
