The Prescott Community Club Student of the Week for May 1 is Prescott High School senior Ava Lockard, who was nominated by business education teacher Christopher DeWuske.
“Ava is new to Prescott this year. She usually works quietly on her work with a sense of diligent perfectionism,” DeWuske said. “I first met Ava in marketing class. She had a way of seeing problems from a different angle and was able to translate that into successful and creative campaigns for specific target audiences. One of the things I admire most about Ava is her ability to think critically and speak honestly without mincing words. She doesn’t speak up often, but when she does, it behooves everyone in the class to listen.
“Ava is also creative, composing an arsenal of logos for a rebrand assignment. She loves drawing and music, and these were self-evident in her video edits and design projects. This work ethic is also visible in her personal finance class this trimester, where I see the same consistency and care in her work. From my observations, Ava doesn’t do it for the grade; she doesn’t do it to impress anyone else. Ava cares about learning and growing. She seeks what is relevant to continue her journey after graduation. She is a student who, in her short time at PHS, has set an incredible example for her peers and is a stellar reminder of the capabilities of students when provided the freedom to develop ideas based on their interests.”
Ava is the child of Christy Lockard and Bryan Bressler. She works at Michael’s in Hudson and enjoys drawing, music and going on walks/hikes. She wants to own her own business after graduation.
