The Pierce County Fairgrounds in Ellsworth will be the hub of the classic car and truck world Sunday, July 24 when the Beldenville Old Car Club holds its 44th annual Car Show & Swap Meet, billed as northwestern Wisconsin’s largest one-day show.

From the times the gates to the fairgrounds open at 7 a.m., (spectators gates officially open at 8 a.m.) the prized possessions of collectors will be on display for show attendees to marvel at.

“It’s really an unbelievable show,” said John Losgaard, of the car club. “From the moment the gates open, it’s a steady stream of cars and trucks heading in. It’s something to see.”

Volunteers help check the vehicles in and steer collectors in the right direction where the crowds of spectators of all ages marvel at these four-wheeled gems. The show started in 1977 and Losgaard described it as being held “at the beautiful, shaded Pierce County Fairgrounds.”

“We get cars here from a 150-mile radius,” said Losgaard. “Being we’re close to St. Paul and Eau Claire, we get a lot of cars here,” he said.

The longevity and level of popularity are a testament of the hard work and dedication of club volunteers.

“We did things right,” he said. “We paid attention to the words ‘thank you’ and ‘come again.’ We do the important things.”

The show is made up of 16 judged classes with dash plaques given to the first 500 to show. There are also “show & shine” non-judged vehicles class that must be 2002 or older.

There’s a huge swap meet at the event and a car corral for those wishing to sell.

A farm toy show has been incorporated as well, and anyone who wants to display a restored farm tractor is welcome to. The show also will feature farm displays.

“Those are fun to look at,” said Losgaard.

There’s plenty of food and refreshments. Eau Galle Rush River Sportsman’s Club will be serving food, as will local 4-H clubs. Al’s Kettle Corn will be offered, along with Stock well’s Maple Treats.

Admission to the show is $5, while children 12 and under enter free.

This is definitely a show for all ages!

“We have something for everyone,” promised Losgaard.
