Letter to the editor: Resources for child care

Posted

To the editor,

My name is Megan Feyereisen, and I am thrilled to share some exciting news with our local community. My home childcare, Nature's Little Wonders (N.L.W.), located in Ellsworth, has recently been awarded a generous $5,000 grant from the First Children's Finance Dream Up Project. This grant has allowed me to make significant improvements to the facility and, most notably, to install a brand-new playground.

This grant is not just a milestone for N.L.W. but also a testament to the importance of quality childcare in our community. As a childcare provider, I understand the high demand for reliable daycare services. I receive numerous inquiries from parents seeking quality care for their children, and I know many other providers in our area face similar demands.

I want to take this opportunity to inform our community that resources are available to support families in their search for childcare. The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) website offers a comprehensive directory of licensed child care providers, conveniently organized by county. In addition, the "Daycare Options in Pierce County" Facebook group has proven to be a valuable resource for parents seeking childcare solutions.

Additionally, for anyone interested in starting their own home daycare, I want to emphasize that there are

resources and opportunities available, just as I have benefited from this grant. First Children's Finance is one such organization that can provide valuable assistance and financial support to aspiring childcare providers. These resources, along with the supportive community of Cohort and provider groups, offer a solid foundation for those looking to embark on this rewarding journey of providing quality child care.

Moving forward, I am excited to see this new playground space come to life and watch the children in my care thrive in this enriched environment.
