Prescott Community Club Student of the Week: Mackenzie Hegland

The Prescott Community Club Student of the Week for Oct. 4 is Prescott High School senior Mackenzie Hegland, nominated by choir director Brittany Kamrath.

“Mackenzie is an incredible leader in the choir,” Kamrath said. “She has been consistent in her passion for growth during each of her seven years in Prescott Middle and High School choirs. The entire choir looks up to her for leadership. She has been student choreographer for the a cappella choirs and the middle school musicals. Mackenzie went to state on each of her seven pieces for solo/ensemble last year and has been selected for state honors choirs for three years. I am so proud of Kenzie and appreciate her dedication to music, choir, and off our young musicians! She has the most extensive range I have ever seen in a student during my teaching career. I have yet to find a musical challenge she cannot overcome. We are lucky to have her in our choirs!”

Mackenzie is the daughter of Lisa Whipkey and Adam Hegland. This honor roll student is the student council school board representative, vice president of the National Honor Society, a yoga instructor, and a member of the varsity a cappella choir, solo/ensemble and musical; a dance teacher and choreographer for the middle school musical. She is also a member of the varsity dance team.

Hegland enjoys choir, singing, dance and yoga. She plans to attend college, likely for education.
