As we bask in the warmth of summer, it's time to embrace the joy of our local county fairs! My childhood memories from Boyceville were filled with anticipation for the Dunn County Fair, where my family and I enjoyed the entertainment, food, and excitement of the rides. Witnessing the remarkable animals showcased by FFA students, from majestic cows to adorable rabbits, instilled in me a deep appreciation for our agricultural roots. This tradition of attending county fairs embodies the essence of Wisconsin living, making it one of the most cherished times of the year to call this state home.

Beyond the rides and local food, county fairs serve as a platform to showcase Wisconsin's agricultural prowess. With over 65,000 farms contributing over $105 billion annually to our state's economy and employing over 435,000 individuals, agriculture is the backbone of Wisconsin. These fairs offer an opportunity for folks to connect with local farmers, learn about farming practices, and savor the delectable fair fare crafted from fresh Wisconsin ingredients.

Supporting agricultural education is also paramount to ensuring the vitality of this industry. That's why I've consistently advocated for and voted to pass funding for county and district fairs, technical colleges, and the UW-System. By investing in initiatives like the Dairy Hub at UW-River Falls, we foster innovation and research to empower our farmers with the latest techniques and technologies while giving them the tools to also showcase their talent.

As we eagerly await the upcoming fair season, here are the dates for the 93rd Assembly District's County and District Fairs:

• Northern Wisconsin State Fair: Tuesday, July 10-13
• Croix County Fair: Wednesday, July 17-21
• Eau Claire County Fair: Monday, July 24-31
• Dunn County Fair: Wednesday, July 24-28
• Pierce County Fair: Thursday, Aug. 8-11
