DNR Fisheries Biologist Kasey Yallaly and her team conducted a trout count on the Trimbelle River June 22, as part of Ellsworth Public Library’s Trimbelle Nature Day. Attendees watched as DNR team members shocked and surveyed 320 meters of stream, the site of a previous trout habitat restoration project in 2007. The group collected trout with a tow barge stream electrofishing unit that sent electricity into the water to stun the fish, who were then netted, put into a tub, measured and counted before being released.
