WIAA playoff football and volleyball information, dates and times

Nearly all of the high school football and volleyball teams in Pierce County made the postseason. Below is a full list of dates and locations for both the football and volleyball postseasons starting this week.

Starting with the football teams: River Falls, Ellsworth, Spring Valley and Elm- wood/Plum City all made the postseason. Prescott was the lone local team that didn’t qualify for the playous.

The River Falls High School Wildcats en- ter the postseason with an 8-1 overall record and as the Big Rivers Conference champions (6-1). River Falls received the #1 seed in their respective section of the WIAA Divi- sion 2 playou bracket and will host La Crosse Central on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.

The Ellsworth Panthers received the #2 seed in the Division 4 playou bracket with an 8-1 overall record and as the Middle Border Conference champions (7-0). The Panthers will host #7 Mauston on Friday, Oct. 21. That game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Spring Valley enters the postseason with an 8-1 record and a 7-0 record in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference, a record that earned the Cardinals a third consecutive conference championship. Spring Valley received the #3 seed in the Division 7 playou bracket and will host #6 Hurley in the first round. That game will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.

The final Pierce County team to make the playous is the Elmwood/Plum City Wolves. The Wolves finished the regular season with a 6-3 overall record and a 5-2 showing in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. The Wolves fin ished runner-up in the conference standings to Spring Valley and received the #4 seed in the Division 7 bracket. Elmwood/Plum City will begin its playou journey on Friday, Oct. 21, at home against #5 Boyceville at 7 p.m.

Pierce County volleyball

The River Falls High School Wildcats go into the postseason as one of the most decorated volleyball teams on this side of the state. River Falls finished the season with a

37-5 record and as the runner-up in the Big Rivers Conference.

The Wildcats received the #2 seed in the WIAA Division 1 playou bracket, second to only BRC rival Chippewa Falls. River Falls will begin its playou journey on Saturday, Oct. 22, at home against the winner of #7 Menomonie and #10 Superior. That game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Elmwood/Plum City goes into the 2022 postseason as already having its best season in more than a decade – regardless of how the playous go. The Wolves finished the regular season with a 19-15 record and a perfect 7-0 showing in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference.

The Wolves defeated Spring Valley less than a week ago to claim the first DSC Con –

ference championship in EPC history. Elm wood/Plum City received the #1 seed in their respective section of the Division 4 playou bracket. The Wolves will host the winner of #5 New Lisbon and #4 Alma/Pepin on Thurs – day, Oct. 20. That game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

The Prescott Cardinals look to make some noise in the postseason with a 24-15 record and a 4-3 record in the Middle Border Con- ference. The Cardinals received the #8 seed in the WIAA Division 2 playou bracket. Prescott will host #9 Northwestern on Tues – day, Oct. 18. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The winner of that contest will go on the road against #1 Baldwin-Woodville on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m.

Spring Valley finished the regular season with a record of 18-9 and as the runner-up in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference standings (6-1). The Cardinals received the #5 seed in the WIAA Division 3 playou bracket and will have a home game against Osseo-Fairchild on Tuesday, Oct. 18. That game is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

The Ellsworth Panthers made the play- ous as the #15 seed in the Division 2 playou bracket. Ellsworth finished the regular season with a 5-17 overall record. The Panthers will have their hands full in the first round, as they go to the #2 seed Bloomer Blackhawks on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
