To the editor,

Many Wisconsin residents feel that there is no use in voting because their vote won’t matter. Voting is a privilege and a right that every resident should exercise at every elec- tion. There can be significant diuerences be tween what candidates say they support and how they actually vote.

As an example, Petryk and Zimmerman tell us in media interviews that they definite ly support education, yet with rare exceptions they have consistently voted to reduce funding for public education or keep it the same. They only increased K-12 funding in the last biennium because federal money was available – which initially they did not want. They also claim to support other beneficial poli cies, yet refuse to support expanding medical care, continuing women’s rights, making it easier to vote, protecting the environment, or lowering the cost of higher education for everyone. They say it is too expensive or better yet, it’s Socialism – and next comes Communism. Pure scare tactics.

Gov. Evers tries to hold special sessions of the Legislature to debate and resolve is- sues auecting our residents but the Repub lican-controlled Legislature immediately adjourns them. The Wisconsin and U.S.

Supreme Courts have supported Wisconsin Republican gerrymandering; therefore, it is extremely important that Democrats control statewide ovces like Governor and Attor – ney General. But also vote for legislators Page, Yacoub, and Smith who can eventually change unfair practices – your vote does count!
