Ardell Flynn, 97, of Red Wing, died Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Valentines Assisted Living in Red Wing. She was born Jan. 12, 1927 in Goodhue Township to John and Rosalie (Puppe) Buck. She grew up in the Goodhue area and attended Goodhue High School. Following graduation she worked at the Red Wing Pottery. In 1953 she married Roy Flynn and the couple made their home on his family farm which Roy and Ardell eventually took over. Together she and Roy raised three children.

Despite her small stature, Ardell was critical to managing the farm. She wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and somehow found a way to lift 5-gallon milk pails into the tank. She bailed hay, looked after the cows, and worked side by side with Roy. And while she never drove a car, she did drive a tractor.

She was a member of Svea Lutheran Church where she was a part of the quilting club. In her later years, after she and Roy moved to Red Wing, she enjoyed playing cards and meeting with her sister for Bingo. Roy passed away in 2015.

She is survived by her children Glen (Julie) Flynn of Hugo, and Sandy Mallan of Richfield; four grandsons, Ryan Flynn, Adam (Katie) Flynn, Chad (Talana) Mallan, and Jesse Mallan; and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Travis and Jaxon; siblings, Berdell Gadient, Joan Moldenhauer, and John Buck.

She is preceded in death by one son, Dean Flynn; husband, Roy; son-in-law, Steve Mallan; brothers, Cyrus, Darold, and LuVern; and her parents.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Svea Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
