George Albert Quist, Jr., of Nelson/Ellsworth, Wis., passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the age of 80. George, also known as “Quisty” worked at Koch Refinery until he retired at age 62. He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He spent time as a fishing guide on Lake Pepin. George was also known for his hard work. Family often heard stories of him helping anyone who needed help. He often mentioned that he prayed for his family, friends, and for the country. Although George was a strong man, he battled the terrible disease of dementia for the past several years. His children and grandchildren feel blessed to have been given the time to know him more and make many more memories with him.
George is survived by brother Gary (Kendra) Quist; five daughters – Cindy (Randy) Kruse, Jacci Quist (Gregg Goulette), Vicky (Leonard) Ahlers, Tina (Bud) Caturia, and Krystal (Jim) Sieg; grandchildren Casey (Alyssa) Kusilek, BreeAnna Ahlers, Bailey Ahlers (Austin Brand), Levi Kruse, Derek (Katy) Goulette, Luke Caturia, Brandon Caturia, Dakota Pittman, Christine Iehl, Jimmy O’Malley, and Dakota Knoll; and many great-grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his parents George Quist, Sr. and Marion (Elroy) Brathol, brother John Quist, nephew Scott Quist, and granddaughter Haley Caturia.
A Memorial Gathering was held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 130 N. Grant St, Ellsworth, WI. A prayer service and sharing of memories followed at 7 p.m. May George’s memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
