Helen (Dietzler) Werner, born July 26, 1932 to Frank and Ivadelle (Jacobsen) Dietzler, Maiden Rock, Pierce County, Wis., died May 21, 2024 at The Glenn, Minnetonka, Minn. She attended school in Plum City, Roberts, and Hudson, Wis., graduated Elmwood High School (1950), attended beauty college (summer 1950), and completed her three-year Rural School Teaching Certificate, River Falls State University (1953).

She was married to Neil Werner Feb. 9, 1952 in Hatchville, Wis. They moved from River Falls to Ellsworth in 1953, and to Maple Grove, Minn., in 1973. Helen was an at-home parent, active volunteer, and occasional substitute teacher; later she was a ward secretary in long term care. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, fishing and boating, family trips, Scrabble and card games with friends. She was an active member of Advent Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, where she found community and comfort. She coordinated the Memorial Blood Centers drive at Advent for over 30 years, reveling in recruiting new donors and becoming friends with returning donors.

Pierce, St. Croix and Dunn counties were always “home” to Helen. She and Denise made many day trips to Wisconsin for family, friends, the Pierce County Fair, and cheese curds.

Helen enjoyed her home in Maple Grove and mowed the lawn herself with a push power mower until age 88. She moved to The Glenn of Minnetonka in 2021, where she became known as the “lady with the beautiful smile.” There she enjoyed community worship, Scrabble, Bingo, musical events, food and conversation! She worshiped at Advent Lutheran or All Saints Lutheran (Minnetonka) most Sundays until her final days.

She was preceded in death by Neil (2009), their son Scott (1983), her brothers F. Kenneth (Delores) Dietzler and Howard (Marjorie) Dietzler; sister-in-law Elaine (Robert) Hintzman; brothers-in-law Myron Werner, Douglas (June) Werner and William (Julia) Werner, three nieces and one nephew. Helen eagerly anticipated their reunion in the Marriage Feast That Has No End.

She’s remembered with admiration, love and laughter by daughter Denise (David) Werden, grandchildren Jennifer Werden and Alan (Alexandria) Werden, 10 nieces and nine nephews.

Visitation and service was held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Advent Lutheran Church, 9475 Jefferson Hwy N, Maple Grove, MN arranged through Evans-Nordby Funeral Home, Osseo, Minn.
