Patricia “Pat” Solyntjes, age 87, of Ellsworth, Wis., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at Ellsworth Health Services.

Pat was born on Dec. 18, 1935, in Springfield, Minn., to Louis and Ann (Gubrud) Kemp. She married John Solyntjes on June 10, 1961. John’s teaching career took them to Potosi, Mich., Rib Lake, Wis., and finally to Ellsworth, where they would raise their family.

Trained as a medical technologist, Pat was proud of the many years she spent working for Dr. Klaas and Dr. Jonas in Ellsworth.

She enjoyed many laughs with the ladies from the Bridge Club, as well as spending time quilting, golfing, cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and cooking. A proud Norwegian, a highlight of family holiday get-togethers was always her homemade lefse.

Survivors include her son, Paul (Karen) Solyntjes; daughters Martha Gillespie, Mary (Mark) Kiefer, and Nancy (Bob) White, all of Ellsworth; grandchildren Luke (Bailey) Solyntjes, Nathan (Camille) Solyntjes, Dane Solyntjes (fiancé Allison Siebel), and Matt Solyntjes; John and Katie Gillespie; Lauren (Chase) McKahan, and Amy (Scott) Radke; Tom, Jack, and Nick White; great-grandchildren Joey and Madi Solyntjes; a sister, Mary Ann Spaeth; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, John; and brothers Mike and Lou Kemp.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth, Wis., with visitation at the church starting at 9 a.m.

The Solyntjes family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff of Ellsworth Health Services for the excellent care Pat received during her stay there.

Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
