The Memorial Day services at Plum City concluded with the presentation of American Legion Auxiliary awards for the poppy poster contest and the Americanism essay contest.
First place winners in the poppy poster contest were: 4K – Owen Niebur. Kindergarten – Catherine Steele, first grade – Addilyn Stoudt, second grade – Morgan Zeilinger, third grade – Taylor Bechel, fourth grade – Olivia Stewart, fifth grade – Gideon Derricks, sixth grade – Ava Bocksell, seventh grade – Bridget Knutson and eighth grade – Braydon Diesing.
First place winners in the essay contest were: third grade – Lily Derricks, fourth grade – Bo Richardson, fifth grade – Lauren Drexler, sixth grade – Laylana Bakke, seventh grade – Gus Elbe, eighth grade – Laila Smith, ninth grade – Chloe Coleman, 10th grade – Lizzie Henn, and 11th grade – Yoselin Geo.
The essays written by Richardson, Bakke, Henn, and Geo were selected to be sent to the state competition. Bakke and Geo received third place at state and Smith and Henn received first place recognition at the state competition.
