Raymond Martin Koller, beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on Nov. 29, 2023, at the Prescott Health and Rehabilitation where he was receiving care for a short time. He was 92. Ray was born on Oct. 3, 1931, in Ellsworth, the son of William and Elsie (Johnson) Koller. Being raised in Ellsworth, he graduated from Ellsworth High School prior to attending De Forest Training School where he learned the trade of electronic repair. Ray was united in marriage to Joyce Dusterhoft at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Columbia Heights.
Raymond was a man of many accomplishments, known for his expertise in the television and radio reparation. As the owner of his own television sales and repair business, he served the Ellsworth community for decades, ensuring that families could enjoy their favorite shows and stay connected. His commitment to excellence garnered the trust and respect of his clients, making him a staple in the local community. For over 20 years, he oversaw the sound system for the Pierce County Fair.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Raymond was a devoted member of various organizations that reflected his passion for community service. For over 40 years, he actively contributed his time and efforts as a member of the Ellsworth Lions Club, receiving numerous recognitions for his selfless contributions such as the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. Raymond was also a member of the Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club since 1960, cherishing the camaraderie and shared love of the outdoors. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, exemplifying his deep faith and commitment to Catholic values where he served as past Grand Knight.
Raymond’s impact on Ellsworth extended far beyond his professional and organizational involvement. He was a devoted family man, dedicated to his wife Joyce and their children: Teresa, Philip, Timothy, Greg, Bill, and Mary. Raymond found joy in creating special memories with his grandchildren and always had a warm smile and a stack of pancakes ready for them during family gatherings and breakfast events.
Raymond’s love for his community was evident in his long-standing membership at St. Francis Catholic Church. He served as a loyal parishioner, finding solace and strength in his faith throughout his life.
Raymond’s presence will be deeply missed by his loving wife Joyce Koller; children: Teresa (Allan) O’Connell, Philip Koller, Timothy Koller, Bill (Joan) Koller, Mary (Travis) Ayala; grandchildren: Christopher and Shawn O’Connell, Jeremy (Caitlin) and Mason Koller, Alexander and Kayleigh Ayala; brother and sisters-in-law: Carol Guck, Judy Dusterhoft, Gordon (Mary) Dusterhoft, Janet Broadbent, Larry Dusterhoft, Linda (Butch) Rohlf, Martin Dusterhoft, Leroy Denzer. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Elsie (Johnson) Koller: son: Gregory Koller; siblings: Marcella Koller, Arlene (Leroy) Denzer, Donna Appelhans, Ann Sverd. in-laws: Alvin Dusterhoft, James Dusterhoft, Vernon Dusterhoft, and Wayne Dusterhoft.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ray Koller will be noon on Wednesday, Dec. 6 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ellsworth. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to the noon mass time at St. Francis. Memorials are preferred to the discretion of the family. Funeral services entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
