Each year the Prescott Lions Club works with schools and day care providers to screen children to determine who may have vision problems. This year the Prescott Lions Club tested 432 students and children and 63 of those tested were referred for further testing.
School nurse Jessica Stute did a timely and efficient job of organizing and escorting the kids to and from the testing area while keeping a written tally on each student. Her knowledge and relationships with the children set the tone for a positive experience for all of us.
Jennifer Christensen was key in instructing and reassuring the kids during the testing process. ie: getting them to sit still long enough to bring the camera into focus and get an accurate reading.
This year by testing early the goal is to have the results available for teachers before the student teacher conferences. For the first time we also tested ninth graders prior to taking their driver’s tests.
The Wisconsin Lions Clubs purchased the eye testing cameras for use throughout the state and also educated their members on their operation.
